DEAR
I enclose my C.V. for your consideration. I would like to call your attention to my completion of an interactive
approach to language pedagogy at the University of Saskatchewan in the College of Education as well as the fact
that I
have taught in China for three years now. I am working in the key school East
China Normal University International School for the 2003-2004 semester with over 500 students and thirty lessons per week. I help my students with their English writing compositions, oral, articulation,
listening, living English as well as subjects as English Literature, History, Social
Studies in the International Division. All my students are making the transition to prestigious universities in China and abroad.
In 2002-2003 I was the English language expert lecturer at Shanghai Fisheries University; previously I taught at Deng Heng
Fu private college. In 2001-2003
I helped students making the transition to foreign and Chinese universities at Yang Pu Experimental School moreover
another prestigious key school Jiao Tong University Affiliated Senior High School.
I also helped students make the transition to foreign universities 2001 in Beijing Shuren Private School one of the best private schools in Beijing for one term.
I
have I interned in three Canadian schools: grades 9-12 teaching social studies, fine arts at Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon,
grade eight home room teacher Venture Heights Elementary School in Martensville and Fine Arts and English grade 8, 9, 10,11,12
at Hudson Bay Composite High School in Hudson Bay Saskatchewan as a requirement for my Bachelor of Education Degree.
I am especially proud of my volunteer work for three years at the Open Door
Society
with Immigration Canada in Saskatoon teaching kindergarten to high school
subjects to new Canadians.
My university program includes a comprehensive Fine Arts Educator, English
Educator plus a T.E.S.L.
component, French Immersion, plus the constructivist
approach to teaching generative, functional English grammar as well
as
Education through Fine Art.
My own " informed" approach to Education is grounded in historic research and
contemporary practice based in psycholinguistic models such as: Skinner's
behaviourist model, Piaget's cognitive model,
Chomsky's creative construction
model , Krashen's monitor model and Ada's critical literacy approach based on
Paulo
Freire's work. This is my research area as well as evaluation however my
classrooms are dynamic, active, informed moreover
FUN! Fine Arts / English are
taught in an exciting colourful environment!
My
own approach includes methodology / studies in Education in the Global
Society hence I am sensitive to issues involving
personal empowerment through
international education. I use authentic and meaningful texts from England
Cambridge
University Press Oxford Press and Canadian Education curriculum as I
transfer learner's experience to the outside world
in a variety of situations.
My learners are empowered through this collaborative creation of knowledge and
identity,
through the action focused on personal and social transformation.
Another
dimension of my education enhancing my T.E.S.L approach is a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan
College of Arts and
Science with a studio art major and a minor in English Literature in addition
two years in the
Bachelor of Science program (Analytical-Chemistry)
@ www.usask.ca; University of Saskatchewan.
This rounds out my liberal
arts education/teaching experience.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and having the opportunity to discuss
your
needs.
Sincerely,
Glenn William Strueby
